When landlords Chris and Amélie took over at The Pemberton Arms (the sizeable village pub situated beside the curve of the main high street through Harston) in June 2010, they had some definite plans about what they wanted the pub to be. Essentially, they wanted it to become once again a proper hub for the whole community, where people from all walks of life could meet to socialise, drink, eat and be entertained.

Just a few short months later, and that has certainly proved to be the case. As Chris puts it: “We’ve changed the general ambience and the look of the place. It’s now really being cared for and improved upon week in week out.” This hard work has helped The Pemberton Arms to be discovered – or re-discovered in many cases – by a number of local groups, including sports clubs, groups associated with the nearby village school and people who work locally and like to pop in at lunchtime or after work.

The pub itself is a spacious one, with a large bar area, a magnificent open fireplace where logs are merrily blazing away at this time of year, a games room with a pool table in, and several nooks and crannies for chatting and drinking in. Bar snacks are available throughout the week.
